Reception Timelines

Creating a reception timeline is a must for every wedding. Although timelines vary, they all seem to follow each other. Spend the time on creating a detailed timeline. This will not only benefit you, but also all of your vendors. Photographers and Videographers will know exactly what is going on and will be able to set up accordingly. Here is a typical order of events:

-Greeting line (greeting of guests entering)
-Bridal party entrance
-Bride and Groom entrance
-Emcee speech on Housekeeping items
-Invocation
-Dinner /Lunch
-Introduction of family
-Introduction of out of town guests / sponsors
-Introduction of bridal party
-Introduction of Bride and Groom
-Best man and Maid of Honor speech/ toast
-Slideshow
-Cake cutting
-Bouquet toss
-Garter Toss
-Bride and Groom Thank you speech
-Father Daughter dance / Mother Son dance
-Bride and Groom first dance
-Bride and Groom money dance

Of course this is only a generic timelime and you may add in whatever that you want. Entertainment such as the Brides Hula Dance for her new Husband, Banzai and Mabuhay Toasts, Lion dance, bands etc. can all fit into the timeline.

One thing the we strongly suggest to our couples is to do the thank you speech before the first dance. It seems that when the lights go down, people like to sneak away. If you do your thank you speech after the first dance, half the people that you are thanking will be on their way home!
